In April 2019 my band Veronika's Ndiigo travelled to Senegal for a musical exchange project. Our songs - singersongwriter pop - had influences by western african music even though we never set foot an african land. Finally we could bring our music to Senegal - band mate and kora player Prince Moussa Cissokhos origin. "1000 Roads To Thiaroye" is inspired by the sandy and narrow meandering roads to Thiaroye, a suburb of Dakar and home of the Cissokho griot family. Keeping orientation was just impossible to us „toubas“ - strangers. But the buzzing and colorful streets had us enchanted in an instant. Only a few days later we performed the song on Thiaroyes town square and it became an instant hit on our tour through Senegal, where people stood up and danced. We hope you like it too!

Im April 2019 reiste meine Band Veronika’s Ndiigo in den Senegal für ein Musik Austausch Projekt. Unsere Songs - Singersongwriter - Pop - sind u.a. beeinflusst von westafrikanischer Musik, ohne je einen Fuss auf Afrikanischen Boden gesetzt zu haben. Endlich wurde unser Traum wahr und wir brachten unsere Musik in den Senegal, dem Zuhause von Bandkollege Prince Moussa Cissokho, Koraspieler der Band. „1000 Roads To Thiaroye“ ist inspiriert von dem sandigen, engen Strassengewirr nach Thiaroye, einem Vorort von Dakar und Zuhause der Griots-Familie Cissokho. Orientierung zu behalten war für uns „Toubabs“ - Fremde - einfach unmöglich. Doch das lebhafte und farbenfrohe Treiben in den staubigen Strassen hat uns sofort verzaubert. Wenig später spielten wir den Song in Thiaroye auf dem Place Centrale des Viertels und er wurde flugs zum Tourhit in Senegal wo die Leute aufstanden und tanzten. Wir hoffen, der Song gefällt auch dir!
